Performing Arts

Conor McGuigan
The Art of Funny: Physical Comedy Basics

Performing Arts | Comedic Theatre Arts

Students learn the fundamentals of physical comedy, including double takes, improv, and finding the natural rhythm of a joke. Along the way, they discover that their "funny side" is a skill worth exercising and honing just like any other.

Sujata Nair-Mulloth
Classical Indian dance: "Sacred Steps: The Art of Classical Indian Dance"

Performing Arts | Classical Indian Dance

Students explore classical Indian dance through its historical context, learning the movement vocabulary and hand gestures that give it meaning. They then bring it all together by learning a full choreographed routine.

Tara Middleton
Sound Travelers: "Voice as Vehicle"

Performing Arts | Jazz Vocals

Students explore the voice as an instrument through breathwork, jazz improvisation, and call-and-response — younger students (grades 3–5) build a group vocal soundscape around scat singing and body percussion, while older students (grades 6–12) improvise over a 12-bar blues, study Sun Ra's approach to voice and sound, and write original lyrics. No prior music training is needed, and every class ends with a full-group performance.

Colin Holmes
Own the Stage: "Bold Choices in Acting & Musical Theatre"

Performing Arts | Acting, Musical Theatre

Students will explore acting and musical theatre techniques focused on making bold, specific, and unique performance choices that bring characters to life.

Jesse Pimentel
Building blocks of acting: "Center Stage: Acting Fundamentals"

Performing Arts | Acting, Theater, Writing

Students explore the foundational building blocks of acting to build confidence and dynamic thinking. Through hands-on practice, they develop skills that extend far beyond the stage.

Jessica Wentlent
Storytelling through movement: "Speaking Without Words"

Performing Arts | Theatre, Dance

Students explore storytelling through movement, using their bodies as a tool for expression and narrative. They learn how gesture, rhythm, and physicality can communicate ideas and emotions without a single word spoken.

Visual Arts

Stefanie Colarusso
Building Up: "The Art of Relief Sculpture"

Visual Arts | Mixed Media

Students explore the fundamentals of sculptural relief by transforming a reference image into a layered, three-dimensional work of art. They simplify their subject into stacked shapes, building form and depth one layer at a time.

Small Worlds: The Art of the Matchbox

Visual Arts | Mixed-Media, Creative Writing, Printmaking

Students transform a small box into a dimensional work of art — younger students (grades 3–5) build a mini tunnel book, using layered paper panels to create a 3D scene around a theme of their choice, while older students (grades 6–12) craft a personal nicho, a Mexican-inspired shadow box honoring a chosen character or loved one through imagery and decoration. All materials are provided.

Leigh Pawling
Fauvism : "Wild Color: Painting with Feeling"

Visual Arts | Watercolor, Acrylic, Mixed-Medium

Students explore the Fauvism movement, learning how artists painted from feeling rather than realism. The focus is on expressive, altered color as a tool for interpreting the world around them.

Debra Dick
Circles of Self: "The Personal Mandala"

Visual Arts | Calligraphy, Drawing, Painting

Students draw from their personal interests, patterns, and design elements to create a one-of-a-kind mandala on paper. The finished piece can be photocopied into greeting cards, shareable art, or even a personal brand mark.

Gina Rice
Narrative Sculpture: "Stories in Mixed Media"

Visual Arts | Mixed Media

Students will create narrative sculpture mixed media works using paper mache pulp, newsprint, water, and tape to tell a personal or fictional story in three-dimensional form.

Mark Ciocca
Personalized illustrations: "My World, My Way"

Visual Arts | Pen and Ink Illustration, Printmaking

Students create personalized illustrations that reflect their own world — whether drawn from real life, imagination, or a blend of both. Each piece becomes a visual reflection of the student's unique perspective and experience.
